Marion: IT’S JUST LIKE THE RIDE IN DISNEYLAND!!!!! Wait, what’s with the Bazooka?
Indiana: That CGI Jones looks NOTHING like me! *Moments later….* This next shot is for Shia…
Action/Comedy/Sci-Fi? (2008)

Well the long-awaited Dr. Jones returns to the big screen and honestly was I hyped. I kept close attention to the film step-by-step and surprisingly found myself slowly getting more & more disappointed. With each CGI sequence getting more interactive with the film I feel that Spielberg just got lazy with the movie. As if he got tired of making the movie half-way through. Yeah yeah yeah, it’s the revolution of CGI but it displaces this Indiana Jones with the previous three. The first three remain in the same atmosphere as the other, and this fourth installment sticks out like a sore-thumb. And not for the best. Not ONLY is there a handful of CGI, but the scenes with the CGI are awful in my opinion (Not unless they really trained those monkeys, or really threw Harrison Ford in a fridge and blew him up [NUKE THE FRIDGE PUN. I KNOW]) The only thing I was satisfied with were the performances. Although, he’s old, he still delivers. (oh boy, how wrong does that sound?) The plot seems to get more and more farfetched (yes, the other plots were farfetched as well, but the subtlety of how to handle the latest plot went out the window) I was excited to see dialogue between Marion and Jones Jr. again, and loved seeing the chemistry reignite. I can’t really explain it, there’s this block that prevents me from being completely satisfied with this movie. Possibly the fact that it sticks out from the previous three makes it very difficult for me to bear. I mean Jones fans have waited long and this is the result we receive? I really wander what Frank Darabont’s script had to offer that Lucas didn’t like so much, but it seems it would’ve been a wiser decision to swing the opposite direction of whatever Lucas & David Koepp was thinking. I loved seeing Ford back with the whip & the hat, but everything that was going on around him seems to have fallen apart. (I was practically screaming in my head that Labeouf had not even been worthy to ATTEMPT to put that hat on his head) This just seemed like a revival of a franchise to sacrifice to the cash cow.

Oh, such a Sweet & Sour experience for me.

Sony VAIO VGC-LT25E *Review*

Sleek design, wireless keyboard and mouse… mmmmm….
Sony VAIO VGC-LT25E All-in-One Desktop

Well I finally get the opportunity to blog out my experience with this computer and with how it performs. Now, I really don’t know a thing about computer manufacturing, I just use them. But comparing this computer with my previous Compaq…. uh, I think I’ll be sticking with the Sony…. :P I really had a traumatizing experience with the Compaq: slow start up, the lags & the freezes, the minimal 256 MB memory ( :O I know.), the inability to play computer games, error messages galore, on & on I can go on about that computer, however we’ve had it for a long time so the endurance on that thing was pretty well. But an old computer can only get so far right? Spending LOTS & LOTS of time on this computer I can comfortably say that it starts up quickly, large 3 GB memory (Although I haven’t tested it, since I know store most files into a plugged-in USB hard drive) the games respond well, and if programs somehow freeze, the computer knows how to counteract with the problem. OH did I mention the sleek design? (Yes I did, but I wanted to say it again.) The computer and the monitor is one and the same so I don’t have to worry so much about lugging both the monitor and computer if moving is necessary. Wireless keyboard & mouse, no more tangles! WHOO! Yeah, I have to buy double A batteries once and a while, but the battery life seems fair. It has a built-in camera and the quality for the pictures is fair, but the webcam is quickly responsive.

Jet Li & Jackie Chan smoking a bong together. Who wouldn’t want to see that?
Fantasy/Action (2008)

All right, well martial arts fans have been wondering when the Jet Li & Jackie Chan match up would ever occur, and many were disappointed to discover that when they did do a movie together, it was targeted for a family film. I was also worried about this fact and to discover that the kid from Sky High was going to be starring alongside two martial arts movie stars. I gave it a chance anyway and discovered it wasn’t so bad. While watching the movie I appreciated the fact that the kid’s role in the film was limited to his abilities, he didn’t all of a sudden learn how to fight in a week and take down an army single-handedly becoming far more powerful than his successors who learned & trained in martial arts most of their life. The film crew knew how to limit the role so that he wouldn’t be such a nuisance in the film. He was bearable. The plot itself is fantasy formatted, which wasn’t so bad because I got a serious vibe (although cheesy at times) from the movie. The filmmakers knew that the specialty of the film was for of course, the martial arts/action, so they at least knew they had to keep this element of this film entertaining, and in conclusion they excel at it. All in all, it was meant to be a family film: entertaining action, fantasy plot, bits of comedy thrown here and there, so therefore it was a great family film.

Sweet because it was great, however fans were not waiting for the Jackie-Jet match up to be a family/children’s film :(

Dead Fantasy (1&2) *Review*

Photobucket

TIFA’S ARMS ARE PUMPED! (With Materia, that is….)
Action/Fantasy

My oh my…. Monty Oum’s Dead Fantasy is AMAZING. Any Final Fantasy (ME!) or Dead or Alive (NOT me….) fan would find this interesting. I am completely obsessed with these fan videos. Why? I get to witness how Final Fantasy would look in animated combat (aside from Advent Children). Dead Fantasy I itself had well choreographed and fluid battles, and when number II arrived I was blown away. Seeing magic being used the way it was was CRAZY! Seeing appearances from a variety of characters and seeing their distinct fight styles clash on the battlefield was just a dream come to life for me… I love it…  OH THE MUSIC. CANNOT FORGET THE MUSIC! I’ve heard Don Davis’ ”The Chateau” in the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack so that was all familiar and great (for Dead Fantasy I…). In Dead Fantasy II Monty used music from Brian Tyler’s “The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift” & “War” soundtracks. Brian Tyler is a newly discovered composer for me and I just love his work. I even bared to watch Tokyo Drift from start to finish just to listen to the music… Monty selected music pieces that work excellently with fighting. Cannot wait until the series is complete so that I may watch the full series together. OVER AND OVER again… :D

Here is Monty’s gametrailers profile… check it out!

Funny Games *Movie Review*

Pray for your life….
Horror/Suspense (2007)

(Expect spoilers!) Well oh well, what a terrible horror movie…. I mean literally. The antagonists are two spoiled psychos attacking an innocent family for no apparent reason and the film had it’s moments of suspense of “what are these two gonna do next?!” The movie was clever because the director made it apparent that the family had not been the only target for torture. WE, the audience, are targeted as well. The antagonists at certain points in the film directly do that old school, “talk to the camera” kind of thing, as if speaking directly to the audience watching the events. While we fight to root for the protagonists, we realized that the director is intentionally stripping away our hope as we momentarily see the family make attempts to fight back. The director knows we expect a happy ending or a form of justice to the antagonists…. but he clearly did not want to give it to us. I watched an interview where he stated (not the exact words…) that he dislikes it when someone says, “that ending was terrible!” where he counter-argued “well then why did you continue to watch it?” The audience watches it to the end because they want a form of conclusion, yet the one he gives us is completely unsatisfying because he KNOWS what the audience wants and completely detracts from it to prove that the film is in his hands… -_-

I like the movie, but I hate it at the same time since that is clearly what he wanted. I like it for the fact that the director GOT the result he wanted. A good movie is one where the director (or writer) gets the results he wants on PURPOSE.

This movie is clearly a SOUR…

2LDK *Movie Review*

2LDK

You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around… that’s what it’s all about…
Comedy/Action/Horror (A little taste of “everything”) (2003)

Well, I can say after watching this movie it was clearly not trying to win any awards based on plot because it’s all about two roomates at each other’s throats and the arguments continually escalate to the point to where they are trying to kill each other… which is why I think this movie is great, under the “entertainment” factor, that is… I was laughing so much in this film and loved the “chick fighting” that was going on and the actresses’ performances were well executed. Very entertaining…

Two girls kicking each other’s asses?! Let me see! Sweet!

Tale of Two Sisters *Movie Rating*

Two Sisters
The stepmom is lookin’ kinda creepy at the cameraman…..
Horror/Drama (2003)

I had seen this movie before but saw it online, so some scenes were blurry/too dark that I couldn’t comprehend what was going on, so it really disabled my ability to properly review this film. After rewatching it on DVD I have discovered how truly beautiful this film is…. absolutely on my top list of horror movies… the story is really a well put “fairy tale” of two sisters.  I am glad to have given this movie another chance because at first I couldn’t understand why people had been rating this movie at a high level, but now I get the complexities of the characters and I don’t wanna type any spoilers/plot because it’s such a well told story and I’ll just leave it at that…

The Golden Compass *Movie Review*

Golden Compass

Some girls wish for ponies, some actually get….. polar…. bears?
Fantasy/Adventure (2007)

Despite that controversial religious debate, I put that all aside and focused on the story itself. The first film didn’t seem so harsh on religious aspect to me, and although some films express political views, this one seems like a harmless family movie to me. (Same type of debate occurred within Harry Potter’s category, since they practice witchcraft and all….) The movie was very entertaining for me and no aspect bugged me throughout my viewing of the film. All in all, creative story, good acting, interesting plot.

I’ll rate it a Sweet because the film is a trilogy and is incomplete at this point and the film standing itself can only get a sweet… :(

Fido *Movie Review*

Fido

Now what woman has never dreamed of dancing with a zombie?
Drama/Comedy (2006)

What a bizarre type of movie! I was going in expecting the film to start with the interesting concept of zombies being controlled in the 50’s type movie to turn into a horror type movie where they all break loose and attack, but no! It unexpectedly stuck to that formula! I guess they didn’t want to turn it into that kind of film, and it seems more logical that it didn’t turn into that horror genre. The movie realistically explains (yes I said realistically) how society would react to an aftermath of a “zombie warfare” and it was well done.

Honestly by the end I was a little disappointed because I was expecting that random “zombie breaks loose and attack” type of movie, but after having some thought like I said before, it’s best they didn’t do that since so many movies have done that and it wouldn’t be unique if it had gone to that plot device.

The acting was pretty well done as it seems the actors intentionally made they’re acting cheesy like they do at those 50’s type of movies where the housewives are all perfect and the kids say things like “golly!” and “oh my!” I was personally bugged by that kind of acting, but to speak on a broader level, it seems that’s what the film wanted.

I rate it a Salty. It’s very well done, but it’s not my taste.
